Style Pick: Navy Suede Driving Loafers from Oliver Cabell

Disclaimer: Oliver Cabell was nice enough to send The Peak Lapel these sneakers for free for the purposes of this honest post.

Sure, the world is a bit crazy right now. And, especially with the cooler months ahead, we’re all spending more time inside than we would perhaps like to. But we still have to run out now and then. Groceries, taking out the trash, going for a quick walk around the block, and so on. This is why we have always believed it is critical for a guy to own a great-looking pair of slip on shoes just for this purpose. You can keep them by your front door, slip them on with our without socks, and look stylish and put together even if you’re just running out to CVS or the like.

Oliver Cabell recently released an excellent looking line of driving loafers ($160) perfect for this purpose. Driving loafers are hard to pull off properly, and can sometimes end up looking either too clunky, or too pointy. But Oliver Cabell did a fantastic job, in our humble opinion. They come in a few colors, and we took a look at the navy one. Quality is there, comfort is there, and these feel like they are built to last. It’s the quality-to-price ratio you have come to expect from this sneaker maker. And with driving loafers as your new “running out for a moment” shoe, you get the added benefit of them being super comfortable to drive in, with their grippy sole and heel.

The one thing we don’t love? The white tab on the back corner of the shoes. We get why they did it - have to differentiate somehow! - but we don’t love how it looks, truthfully.

In all, though, this is a worthwhile investment and something we think every guy should own. And Oliver Cabell is now making one of the best offerings in the driving loafer space out there.
