Amazon Goodthreads Haul + Review

Amazon has been making bigger and bigger moves into the fashion space. While they have been faced with some difficulties, they don’t seem to be slowing down. And a big part of this is their creation of their own clothing labels. Especially in the men’s sector. One of these Amazon-made labels is Goodthreads. They are inexpensive men’s staples and basics. So, of course, we took a look to see if they are worth your hard-earned money.

Skinny Fit Selvedge Jeans — $50

Fifty bucks for a pair of selvedge jeans is pretty close to unheard of. (What is selvedge? In short, it’s a neater stitching that looks much nicer when you cuff them.) These also feel surprisingly nice. They are soft, flexible, and have just the right amount of give and stretch with their 1% elastane. Unfortunately, when they say skinny, they mean skinny. Unlike some other skinny cuts, this is a true skinny and much too tight for me. These things have a leg opening close to 13.00” around. That is tight. But, they feel great, and are well made. If they would bring back their Slim Fit model of these things, it would be a steal at this price. (I took my usual 30x32.)

Lightweight Slub Henley — $23

Not quite sure why these are called “lightweight.” They feel just like my henleys from J Crew. They fit super nice and slim, also, with a nice, rounded bottom hem that prevents them from looking too short. I love the contrasting detail on the placket, too. And that “tan” color I ended up keeping is killer. The one downside? They don’t have elastic cuffs. For the price, this is where they cut costs. Still, it rose to be one of my favorite things to wear on lazy Sundays. Available in a whole bunch of other excellent color options, too. (I usually need a slim fit in a size Medium for tops like this. I took a Medium here, and found that it was perfectly slim. The size Small was too tight!)

Crewneck Cotton T-Shirt — $13

100% cotton at a stupid low price. Can’t go wrong there. Except, this was the most disappointing of the bunch. Didn’t feel super great, and the fit was… well, it left a lot to be desired, as you can see. I took a Medium hoping it would fit slimly, and that was just not the case at all. (The size small was too tight for me, though.)

Conclusion

Overall, this is some seriously impressive stuff. The fit of the tee needs some work, and they should bring back the Slim Fit jeans. But, otherwise, they’re doing a whole lot right here. In other words, keep it up, Amazon! Our first impressions of Goodthreads are super positive!
