Uniqlo Still Makes The Best Undershirts

February 6, 2023 The Peak Lapel

Different people certainly have differing opinions as to the subject of whether or not to wear an undershirt. Personally, sometimes I do, sometimes I do not. In the colder months it often is a good idea to wear an undershirt under a sweater to (a) mitigate the itchiness of some fabrics and, more importantly (b) reduce the need to wash them which shortens the life of most knitwear. Thus, it’s a good idea to at least have some undershirts in your arsenal…

This Is The Winter To Get Yourself A Pair Of Good Gloves

January 19, 2023 The Peak Lapel

The winter (and fall) are “menswear’s” favorite months to dress in because of all the layering, accessories, and outfits that can be put together. Whereas the summer can often be shorts and a tee, the winter allows for fun, textured fabrics, sweaters, coats, blazers, jackets, and more…

It's On Sale: The Incredible Private White Twin-Track Waxed Jacket

January 10, 2023 The Peak Lapel

If you at all follow menswear online, you’re likely as into waxed cotton canvas jackets as the rest of us. Everyone knows about, and likely owns, a Barbour. Some might even own a Belstaff. But fewer might be familiar with perhaps the granddaddy of them all, the Private White Twin Track…

TPL Recommends: The ASKET Flannel Shirt

December 26, 2022 The Peak Lapel

For those in the know, ASKET has long been a great place to go for staple wardrobe items. They make great OCBD shirts, and chinos, as well as things like scarves and woven belts. Their stuff is not cheap, nor expensive. It’s fairly priced, and their quality is bulletproof…

TPL Recommends: Lunetterie Generale Glasses

December 5, 2022 The Peak Lapel

Just a short one today. High end eyeglasses are having a true renaissance. There are plenty of great brands, but perhaps a less commonly known one is Lunetterie Generale. While I personally have preferred some of their older collections more than their most recent one, they make some great, unique, and high quality frames all the same…

Rothy's Is Better Than Allbirds

November 17, 2022 The Peak Lapel

Or at least quite a bit more stylish. You see, I have been looking for a while for a great pair of slip on shoes to wear when running out for a quick errand, or similar. I have worn Vans for the last several months, but never really loved the look. I recently found out that Rothy’s started making shoes for men, and I have to say I am impressed. Their Driving Loafers, for example, look nice, yet are casual enough to be worn even with joggers…

The Slimmest Chelsea Boots Out There

October 30, 2022 The Peak Lapel

I’m a tall thin guy, no two ways about it. As part of that, my legs are slim as well. I have always loved the sleek Chelsea boot look, but most Chelsea boots out there don’t suit a slimmer guy. They aren’t sleek enough, and even if they are, the ankle portion is not nearly slim enough to neatly grip a slimmer leg. This results in jutting out away from you leg, getting caught on your pants, and just generally looking bad…

Oliver Peoples' Latest Frames

October 27, 2022 The Peak Lapel

For those “in the know” about eyeglasses, Oliver Peoples is an interesting brand. On the one hand, it is owned by Luxottica — that massive corporation that owns and controls about 90% of the eyeglasses market; just about every brand you likely know is owned by them — which would indicate that their frames would follows like most other Luxottica owned brands…

Review: Senszio Custom Suiting

September 18, 2022 The Peak Lapel

Somehow Senszio has flown beneath my radar for years. They are a custom suiting company based out of Hong Kong that has been in business for decades, and now continues as a family business. They do trunk shows throughout the year in the US — and are currently in the middle of one (September 19th, 2022) so reach out from their site if you would like to schedule an appointment with them! — and offer MTM services to their overseas clients. In India they offer full, true bespoke…
